Not so Boring: Repurposed Crates.

Working in the marketing department of a bread company, I know a neglected bread crate when I see one. Whether it be on a leisurely walk or during a night out in the town- I am always distracted by bread crates. And milk crates. And yes, wooden pallets. Some may find this a little odd....but I love the way their functionality extends beyond the means of carrying products. Don't diss these crates that are normally…

Judge a book – by its shelf.

I love reading & I have recently been facing an internal dilemma; whether to ditch the traditional books and switch to a kindle/e-reader? I fear that with the increasing conversion to e-reading, the bookshelf will soon be pushed into the realms of nostalgic rhetoric...(I can hear myself saying to my children...."I remember a time when books used to be collected and displayed on shelves"). Colourful Inspiration.

Although it we may not realise it - colour brings meaning to our lives. Colour makes up our world. There is no denying that each colour influences our feelings; every colour has meaning and possesses the capacity to play with our mind. Below is from the very stylish Thornbury home of Mariana Garcia-Katz and family....displaying random letters is another trend that keeps popping up. (Images via Design Files) An eclectic collection wall mounted boxes - Great way to use scraps of old wallpaper. (Image via ¬†homeklondike)…

White Modern Living.

I came across these pieces when researching for my Modern Organic moodboard..... (Image from toxel.com) Love this tree branc inspired oak veneer bookshelf created by talented design Oliver Dolle. It may not be totally functional (ie. with limited book storage) but I love its simplicity and the lines it would add to a modern living area. Would be great for a photo album display! (Image from Style-Files) Light wooden shelving against pure white backdrop. Simple.…

My first mood board!

Officially started my Diploma in Interior Design/Decoration. The first unit is Applying principles in Design required me to create a mood board for a fictional client 'Jennifer Tan' (requiring a concept for her modern living/entertaining area). Jennifer loves to entertain guests and has a large abstract sculpture collection. I decided to explore the theme of modern organic.
